Feasibility for the school validation

Certain prerequisites have to be met before EDUFI will commence on the process of assessing the documentation of the school for a Letter of Assessment. In addition to solid financing and school providing plans, there needs to be a clear understanding of the local regulative framework regarding establishing a school.

The school provider needs to be either

  • member of Education Finland programme OR
  • have an agreement with Education Finland member who will provide necessary services in regard to the school to adhere Finnish approach and ethos in the education.

This step also helps the Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI) in risk mitigation, as the members need to follow the membership criteria, rules, and code of conduct.

For the feasibility assessment, the school provider, in collaboration with its Finnish partner from the Education Finland (EF) program, must provide the following information:

  1. Basic information about the established or to-be-established school.
  2. A preliminary document on the plan for organizing education (initial document on the conditions set for the operation).
  3. Preliminary information about the authorities responsible for granting the education provision license and the requirements they set.
  4. Information about the license application process for organizing education at the (international) school in the country where the school is planned to be established (or is already operating).

Additionally, a description from an Education Finland (EF) member organization (international school's partner) is required regarding what the EF member has done and how the educational provider, school management, and teachers will be supported in the future - including the period between potential audits and re-audits. It is crucial in the early stages that the support for the school is stronger and that, preferably, there is a Finnish expert on site (as principal or similar) at least part of the time - it's not excluded that support could be assured in other ways.

The feasibility step is also in place to ensure that the education provider or school understands the purpose of the validation process, what it can be utilized for, and what it is not applicable to (e.g. Accreditation)
